Scandinavian Luxe: Versatile and Modern

The long winter season in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden is often marked by extra long nights and incredible cold. Pair that with breathtaking natural landscapes and the survival instincts of generations and you get the balanced form and function of Scandinavian interior design. Its principles are simple: quiet, light, versatile, inspired by and reverent towards nature. And its traditional roots run deep. If you love the minimalism and warmth of hygge but want a streak of luxe to run through it, then a versatile and modern Scandinavian luxe aesthetic is just what you’re looking for.

What Makes Scandinavian Luxe

At its core, Scandinavian luxe is the comfort and organic feel of Scandinavian hygge but with velvety textures, metallic accents and more streamlined silhouettes pulled into the mix. Mid-Century pieces borrowed plenty of inspiration from Scandinavian techniques which can be seen in the shape of lounge chairs and flexibility of expressions.

Ultimately, Scandinavian interiors appeal to homeowners who want an uncluttered feel. So it makes sense that this style could blend well with the openness and elegance of modern luxe aesthetics. Together, they create clean, comfortable, and sophisticated spaces that effortlessly welcome while also enhancing grace and charm.

Versatile & Modern: Scandinavian Luxe in ESD Designs

What we love most about approaching homes with Scandinavian luxe in mind, is the fact that, thanks to its inherent uncomplicated and modest compositions, it slips effortlessly into any motif. Older row homes with more decorative architectural details add a subtle richness to the composure of Scandinavian aesthetics. And then, we add the gold, contemporary art, velvety accent chairs, textures, and patterns

All of this is done with such delicacy that the movement and relationship between the modest and warm Scandinavian and the cooler luxe pieces feels so organic and meant-to-be. You almost barely notice it until you sink into the leather sofa with the sheepskin throw and switch on the brass floor lamp next to the Mid-Century Modern lounge chair.

And then, not only do you feel it and see it, but you experience it.

Bring Scandinavian Luxe Home

Utilizing this style starts with a blank canvas. When you’re remodeling your home, you often don’t have that luxury, which is where an interior designer comes in. We’re able to visualize through the existing structure and decor, helping you achieve that perfect streamlined and coherent look—with just a little bit of glam to complete the Scandinavian luxe look.

Work with a designer to turn your home into that Scandinavian haven of light and warmth, functionality and form.
